This semester is about over which means this might possibly be our last blogs. Over the past few weeks we have put out bins for recycling and people have been putting cans and bottles in them. It has been pretty cool to see people using our recycling bins because it means that all of those recyclables aren't just being thrown away.

This week, we called Ms. Green Recycling and we found out that we could have them pick up our recyclables, but it would cost money. So, we decided on a different approach. We think that it would be better for our pocketbooks if we brought it in ourselves because then it would only be a small fee of 2 dollars a visit. We are going to talk to the janitorial staff about putting in the bins so our school can recycle better.
During the past while, Silas, Ryan and I have been working on our website. We also have made an informational video which shows ways we can recycle and the benefits of recycling. We are going to start putting different recycling cans in the hallways of our school to try to encourage more people to recycle their plastic, cardboard, paper, and glass. We are also going to call other places like Ms. Green Recycling Plant in Cadillac, Michigan.
I am passionate about recycling because it is a good way to take care of the earth. It also can save animals from getting stuck in six pack rings and dying. Not recycling also pollutes our lakes and rivers, which could also make animal's drinking sources not safe to drink. They could get sick and die. I believe our school should change the way we recycle as well. We should change it by not only recycling paper but also recycling cardboard, bottles, tin, aluminum, etc. In the state of Michigan, recycling pop cans gives you 10 cents in return, so if you go on the road and pick up pop cans that people just throw out of their car, you can get money. This way, we can work together to keep the earth clean.
