Recycling in the U.S.
The US has an estimate 33% recycling rate, placing it 7th in the world's recycling efforts. However, the U.S. makes up about 5% of the world's population. At the same time, the U.S. accounts for over 40% of the world's waste.
We can do better.
Easy ways to help reduce waste include using reusable bags when shopping and using refillable mugs instead of polystyrene cups for drinks. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
But, recycling is our main purpose here. If the US did its part in recycling, we could reduce the world's waste production by upwards of 27%.
